The logic of the search engine looks in the whole entry for the word you typed in the query field. So if you search for 'tim' you will also find people that wrote in the dancelevel comment 'my timing is good'.

To improve your searchresults try to use the following keysigns:

  • put a + in front of a word to require it
  • put a - in front of a word to disallow it
  • put a ; in front of a word to allow only entries that have words that start with that word
  • put several words in " to group them together
Example:
  • 'ed' finds 687 entries
  • '+ed' finds also 687 entries
  • 'ed usa' finds 807 entries (all ed's and all usa's)
  • '+ed +usa' finds 269 entries (only ed's that have also usa)
  • '+;ed +usa' finds 10 entries (only words that start with ed and the entry has usa)

When the Dancers Directory started we showed all the email addresses. Unfortunatly several people took that as an open invitation for copying this addresses and using them in their mailings.
I don't like it if my email suddenly appears in a mailinglist and I am sure the majority of the Dancers Directory members also don't like that. That is why I changed the way how you can get in contact with other dancers.

To find out the email address:

  1. Find the person in the Dancers Directory
  2. Click on 'Write a Message!'
  3. Write your Getting-in-contact message
  4. if the dancers email address was wrong, you might get a feedback from a mailserver.
  5. if the email arrived, the person can answer you in a normal way and you will have the email address.
